The Grow Parlor is a hair salon, coaching practice, and matchmaking service operating at 55 Bridge St., Ste. 102, Corning, NY 14830. This policy covers thegrowparlor.com and all of the services offered through it, including hair services, business coaching, and the Dating Roster.
Throughout this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to The Grow Parlor. "You" means anyone who visits this site, contacts us, or uses our services.
We take this seriously, particularly for Dating Roster members, who share personal information with us that most businesses never see. If you have a question this policy doesn't answer, email justina@thegrowparlor.com and ask.

When you register for an event: your name, contact information, and any registration details the event requires.
When you join the Dating Roster: substantially more. See the section below.

Information collected automatically
When you visit this site, our hosting platform and analytics tools automatically collect standard technical information: your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, and the site that referred you.
This site is hosted on Squarespace, which sets cookies necessary for the site to function and, depending on your consent, cookies used for analytics. See the Cookies section below.
Information from third parties
We may receive information from service providers we use to run the business — for example, our scheduling platform confirming a booking, or our payment processor confirming a transaction. We do not purchase personal information from data brokers or advertising networks.
-
The Dating Roster requires information that is more personal than what a typical business collects. This section explains what we gather and how we handle it.
What we collect
Over the course of onboarding, check-in calls, and your membership, we may collect:
Your age, relationship history, and relationship status
Your values, beliefs, lifestyle, and what you're looking for in a partner
Your preferences regarding a potential match, including any that touch on protected characteristics
Whether you have children, want children, or have other family circumstances
Your occupation, education, and general financial situation as it bears on lifestyle compatibility
Photographs you provide
Notes taken during our conversations
Feedback about introductions and dates
Some of this may be legally considered sensitive personal information. We collect it for one reason: we cannot make thoughtful introductions without it.
How we use it
To understand who you are, to identify people who may genuinely fit, and to support you through the process. That's all.
How we share it — read this part
When we make an introduction, we share information about you with the other person, and we share information about them with you. This is the core of the service and it cannot work otherwise.
Here is how we handle that:
We share only what's relevant to the introduction — typically your first name, age, general location, occupation, photographs, and a description of who you are and what you're looking for.
We do not share your last name, phone number, email address, or home address with another member without asking you first.
We tell you what we plan to share before we share it, and you can ask us to leave anything out.
You can tell us at any time that certain information is off-limits for introductions.
We do not share your Roster information with anyone outside the introduction process, except as described in the "How we share information" section below.
Photographs
If you provide photographs for matchmaking purposes, we use them only for introductions. We do not post member photographs on social media, in marketing, or anywhere public without your separate, explicit permission.
If you leave
If you cancel your membership, tell us and we will delete your matchmaking profile and notes. See "Data retention" below.
-
We use the information we collect to:
Provide the services you've asked for
Schedule, confirm, and follow up on appointments and events
Make and support matchmaking introductions
Process payments
Send you information you've asked for, including event announcements and newsletters
Answer your questions
Keep records required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes
Understand how the site is used so we can improve it
Protect the safety of our members, our guests, and our business
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
-
We do not sell your personal information. We have never done so and have no plans to.
We share information in these circumstances only:
Between Dating Roster members, for introductions. As described above, with the limits described above.
With service providers who help us operate. These companies process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:
Squarespace — website hosting, forms, email campaigns, and scheduling
Square — payment processing and appointment booking
Gmail— email marketing
Our accountant and bookkeeper — financial records
Google Workspace — form submissions
With event venues and partners, where a venue requires a guest list or headcount. We share the minimum necessary - usually a name and count.
When the law requires it, including in response to a subpoena, court order, or lawful request from a government authority.
To protect people. If we believe in good faith that sharing information is necessary to prevent physical harm, fraud, or a serious safety risk to you or someone else, we may share it with the appropriate parties.
In a business transfer. If the business is sold or reorganized, information may transfer as part of that transaction. If that happens, we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
-
Payments are processed by Square. When you pay us, your card information goes directly to Square — we never see, handle, or store your full card number. We receive only a confirmation of payment and the last four digits of the card for our records.
Square's handling of your payment information is governed by their own privacy policy, available at squareup.com.
-
This site uses cookies. Some are strictly necessary — they keep the site functioning, remember your form entries, and secure your session. Others support analytics, which tell us things like which pages people visit and how they found us.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may cause parts of the site to stop working properly.
We do not run third-party advertising cookies or share your browsing behavior with advertising networks.
Do Not Track: Our site does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals, because no common standard for them has been established.
-
If you sign up for an email list, we'll send you the updates you asked for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect promptly.
We may text you about appointment confirmations, event details, or matters directly related to your membership. Reply STOP to any message to opt out of texts. Note that opting out of marketing messages does not stop transactional messages about an appointment you've booked.
We do not share your email address or phone number with other businesses for their marketing.
-
We sometimes take photographs at Dating Roster events for social media and promotional use.
We will always tell you when photography is happening, and you can decline. Tell us at check-in or at any point during the event, and you won't be photographed - or if you already have been, tell us, and we'll remove the image. Nobody is required to be photographed to attend an event.
-
We keep information only as long as we have a reason to.
Salon client records: for as long as you remain a client, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you return
Dating Roster member profiles and notes: for the length of your membership. If you cancel and ask us to delete your profile, we will do so within 30 days
Financial records: for seven years, as required for tax purposes
Email list subscriptions: until you unsubscribe
If you ask us to delete your information, we will - except for records we're legally required to keep, such as transaction records for tax purposes.
-
We protect your information using reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. Our website uses SSL encryption. Access to member information is limited to people who need it to do their jobs. Physical records are kept secure at our business location.
Under New York's SHIELD Act, we maintain a data security program appropriate to the size of our business. If a data breach affecting your private information occurs, we will notify you as required by law.
No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us immediately.
-
You can, at any time:
Ask what we have. Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correct it. Tell us if something is wrong and we'll fix it.
Delete it. Ask us to delete your information, subject to the retention requirements above.
Limit what we share. Tell us what may and may not be shared in a matchmaking introduction.
Unsubscribe. Opt out of marketing emails or texts.
Withdraw consent. If you previously agreed to something - photography, a specific use of your information - you can change your mind.
To exercise any of these, email justina@thegrowparlor.com. We'll respond within 30 days. We won't discriminate against you for making a request.
If you're a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have additional rights under that law. Contact us and we'll honor them.
-
Our services are for adults. The Dating Roster is available only to people 18 years of age or older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Salon services for minors are arranged through a parent or guardian, and we collect only what's necessary to provide the service.
If you believe a minor has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
-
This site links to other websites - event venues, ticketing platforms, social media, and partner businesses. We're not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them your information.
-
We may update this policy as the business changes or as the law requires. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top.
If we make a change that meaningfully affects how we handle your information - particularly Dating Roster member information - we'll notify you by email rather than relying on you to notice.
